    Thank you for this video and for sharing your skills. Where do you put actions that will take longer than 10 minutes? and where do you put actions that you’ve decided needing doing, but your current list is long enough?

    I have the opposite problem. I was a stay at home mom for years and found my identity truly in the role of stay at home, homeschooling mom. Due to an unexpected, unwanted divorce, I now have to work outside the home and my kids go to school. I feel my identity and purpose slipping away and my family culture has been diluted. I would love ways to hold onto those things like my home and family that I hold dearly while still working outside the home.

    • @LearnDoBecome
      @LearnDoBecome 5 днів тому

      Thank you so much for bringing this up! I know you’re not alone, and while my work over the past 15 years has been from the home, there has definitely been a juggle taking place. I’m sure others will have good ideas for this, but one concept that helped me was the idea of “Life Architecture.” We would decide on regular things we would do daily, weekly, monthly, annually, etc. that would keep our family close. That structure-everything from daily prayer to an annual “We Love to Be a Family Day” gave us a solid foundation so that, even with a lot going on, we could feel connected and united. Do you have a few things like that either already in place or that you could put in place to help build that family culture again?

    I have been a STEP member for a number of years and never finished all the modules. My husband and I are going to move next March out of our home that we have built and lived in for 37 years. . So, I decided I needed to figure out how to go about this HUGE project. I'm going through the modules and watching the youtube videos and I'm starting to feel like I can do this one chunk at a time. Thank you for Learn Do Become.

      So proud of you!! This is definitely a huge project, but you are in the right place! As long as you can wrap your head around the subprojects and the ORDER of those-and then trust your system (use your calendar, check your daily list and Next Actions List, set aside project time, etc.), you will be golden! Maybe send us a picture on moving day and report back on how you are victorious! 🥳🥳🥳

    I appreciate your take on the GTD method: You have extremely valuable hands-on applications from the POV of families (instead of the original male business take of David Allen). As a suggestion: take a look at the Flylady lists. I love how she appoints specific weeks of the month for the monthly/quarterly/yearly tasks: first week in-depth items in the entrance way, second week of the monthe for anything related to the kitchen, then living room, then bathroom plus extra rooms, then bedroom. Restart the next month. It keeps me relaxed. I know it will be the kitchen's turn soon enough, then I will take care of the broken light bulb etc. And it empties my to-do list. I needn't remind myself of the in-depth cleaning tasks anymore. I have a Flylady check list for each area and simply add a post-it when needed, like "scrub wall dining area"

    Great advice, April! I love the idea of only scheduling 30% of the day. Not always easy to control as things just seem to have a way of sneaking themselves onto my calendar until I’m way over scheduled, but I’m going to try my best to do this and make it work. Thanks!

      Thanks for your kind words! There is a whole PDF on the Freedom Filer in the STEP program or lots of great videos online, but what I like are the category tabs that are replaced/updated (like medical records) and the cycling receipts (an even and odd folder for each month). I find the more I go digital, the less I use my paper files, which has been great!

    April i love you. You helped me improve my project management skills at work foremost. You trat tasks as important things that need to get done. Physical cubbies are so so simple. Who knew. But a long side i had to create that cubbie in my head. It sounds stupid but only util i did that i knew where the papers went. It took me a long time. I dont have a desk so i put my cubbies in different areas but i could forget were the papers where. Its crazy. Now the idea of where they are is in my head before i look for them. 😅😅 thank you.

    Hola April, I love for the way you helped me grow confidence getting organize with my project management skills at work. Definitely for success you need to review on a regular basis. The best question is am I sure on when is this going to get done?. I try as much as time allows it to work as soon as possible to work quickly in my brain the broad steps, time, dead line, calendar etc. Support material folder is great!!! Putting intention lables on the cubbies makes all the difference.🎉❤

    Dear April, I love you.and admire you. Thank you for all you do. This has not been easy for me, I thought I could do it on my own but reality hit me. I took the class, watch and fail and watch again and have failed many times but it took my brain to another level. To me it was making in my head and imagining everything before doing it. It's like here's this task, this paper, this watever and take the time to imagining that last sentence on the path. Are you clear on when you will do this task? That took me years. I'm still working on it. It's never ending and is easy to get lazy. But, the pile will grow again!!😢😢. To me I have to handle that whatever as soon. As possible. Thank you!! Make more daily videos. Wow. I am so grateful that you shared not only this book but such a great summary of the key points that spoke to you. I have noticed that it's the deeper seeded beliefs that end up driving my behaviour and unless I look at those roots I keep the same pattern of behaviour I keep saying I am trying to change. This was so very helpful and I really related. Mil gracias!!!

      Thank you for your kind words! Change IS possible-it is such a gift to be able to learn from books and from each other. Keep up the great work!

      So glad the videos are helpful! We have been doing some more purging around here, too, and it feels amazing. Keep it up!

    I need to start at the beginning. I know these routines work.

    This is so valuable! I am a do-er, probably as a coping mechanism. My pastor said to me years ago, "You are not a Human Doing; you are a Human Being."

      Such wisdom! Yes, it is so hard sometimes to just sit still and rest or think, but so necessary. ❤️ Sending love!

    I will definitely try the next in line actions list. I always tended to put too much on my actual next actions list and moved the tasks from week to week. This came just right for me. Thank you!!!
